Here’s something I keep seeing.
A lot of smart people think nervous system regulation means being calm.
Like nothing gets to you.
That’s not it.
Regulation means you can feel stress without letting it decide for you.
You get a late-night message questioning work you already agreed on. You feel yourself getting tense. You want to reply fast.
- Regulation is waiting until the next day, when you’ll say it better.
You feel that sinking feeling before raising your prices.
Even though the numbers make sense.
- Regulation is not lowering the price to feel better.
It’s sending the offer anyway.
A deal falls through.
You feel deflated. Your energy drops.
- Regulation is taking a pause and still showing up.
The feeling always comes first.
That’s human.
What matters is the pause.
Then the choice.
Most of us learned early that acting fast meant staying safe.
That habit works. Until stress starts running the business.
Regulation keeps choice available.
